Non-Destructive External Pipe Inspection with Pipe-Penetrating Radar Technology

External PPR Inspection

When dealing with pressure pipes, unique challenges come to the forefront that often require specialized solutions. One such challenge is the limited accessibility these pipes often present. Traditional inspection methods can struggle in these confined spaces, making it essential to explore alternative approaches for assessment.

Additionally, the management of flow within pressure pipes can be a complex and demanding task, which, at times, can disrupt inspections. Understanding the condition of these pipes while managing the flow effectively is of great importance. SewerVUE's External Radar Services offer an all-encompassing solution, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of your infrastructure without compromising safety or flow management

We strategically excavate small holes at key points, granting us access to pressure pipes while minimizing disruption to the surrounding area. Our advanced pipe penetrating radar technology enables comprehensive grid scanning from the surface, capturing data critical to assessing the condition of your pressure pipes. The data collected is then promptly transmitted to SewerVUE's team of experts, who meticulously analyze it to provide valuable insights into the state of your infrastructure. Our non-destructive wall thickness assessment method is a cornerstone of our services. It allows us to gauge the thickness of your pressure pipes' walls without causing harm or disruption. Most importantly, our external radar services are an extremely cost-effective alternative when compared to internal inspection methods. You can obtain comprehensive insights into your infrastructure without breaking the bank.

With SewerVUE, managing the challenges of pressure pipes becomes an efficient and cost-effective endeavor. Our External Radar Services offer a solution that is both practical and economically advantageous, ensuring the long-term health and efficiency of your infrastructure.

Virgina Beach The PPR Approch

Virgina Beach Inspection

SewerVUE Technology Corp. was entrusted with the task of conducting data processing for a Pipe Penetrating Radar (PPR) inspection on the upper segment of a Reinforced Concrete Pressure Pipe (RCPP) located at Central Trunk IFM (SF-119), a crucial site demanding a thorough assessment. This particular RCPP had been in service since 1968, accumulating an impressive 55 years of operation, featuring an outside diameter of 44 inches, an inside diameter of 36 inches, and a nominal thickness of 1.82 inches.

Simultaneously, another inspection project was taking place at Military Providence IFM (SF-165). The material under examination was also Reinforced Concrete Pressure Pipe (RCPP), in operation since 1979, totalling 43 years of service, with an outside diameter of 44 inches, an inside diameter of 36.0 inches, and a nominal thickness of 1.36 inches (Class 150). Both of these inspections were part of a broader initiative to ensure the integrity and safety of these aging pipelines.

The multi-faceted assessment encompassed not only their physical dimensions but also their structural integrity, ensuring that potential issues and areas of concern were identified and addressed promptly. These two comprehensive inspections have been instrumental in gathering critical data using Pipe Penetrating Radar (PPR) technology. Specifically, the focus of these inspections was to capture precise data related to the wall thickness of the pipes. This data provides an in-depth understanding of the structural integrity of these pipelines, allowing for the proactive detection and resolution of any anomalies or signs of deterioration.

SewerVUE.'s participation in these projects demonstrates our unwavering commitment to preserving critical infrastructure through qualitative data. By utalizing pipe penetrating radar technology and expertise, we empower our partners to make informed decisions regarding the maintenance and rehabilitation of their pipelines, contributing to the reliability and resilience of water distribution systems. These case studies serve as a testament to the effectiveness of PPR technology in preserving the essential assets that support and sustain communities.
